The VPS comes pre-installed with the OS of your choice (see the choices below). The Linux OS will be pre-installed for you with a package manager (e.g. yum or apt) and development libraries to allow you to compile your own packages should you wish. The Windows VPS will enable you to connect with your remote desktop client to install software as if it were local. The Windows VPS comes pre-installed with IIS, MS SMTP, FTP and many other standard Windows components.
