Interhost UK can now provide a pre-installed copy of the popular Mambo content management system with selected hosting packages (see below).
What is Mambo?
Mambo is a full-featured content management system (CMS) that can be used for everything from simple websites to complex corporate applications. With mambo you
no longer require a piece of software on your PC to create and manage your website. Simply install Mambo from within your control panel, add pages, edit pages, all from within your web browser.
With mambo you can create multiple users to edit your website content, you can assign users to specific areas or enable them to be able to
manage the whole site. You can add, edit or delete existing pages - there is a trash can mechanism to restore a previously deleted page if required.
The system comes with it's own integrated WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) page editor, which makes editing your site content as easy as using a common
word processor. Uploading and managing images and other media is fully supported with Mambo's integrated file manager.
Advanced Features
Aside from being a fantastic solution for managing your website's content, Mambo also comes with some excelent advanced features. You can schedule certain content
to only appear at set intervals, you can syndicate your content with RSS feeds, it has an integrated template management system to allow full customisation of your websites look and feel, cause Mambo to use Search Engine freindly URL's, plus you have the ability to enable integrated plugins and addons...
Plug in the extra's
One of the best features of Mambo is the fact that it has so many plugins and addons, some pre-installed and some available from the Mambo website
mamboserver.com. This allows you to create a voting system, add a forum, create photo or media galleries, an events calender, e-commerce system and so much more (details on the Mambo website). If you are a PHP programmer, you can even write your
own plugins.
Help & Support
Mambo is an open source project and is therefore provided without charge and without formal support. With selected hosting packages (see below) Mambo can be installed into your website
instantly with little technical knowledge for your convenience. Informal support can be found on the Mambo forums and the Mambo documentation website.
